Loading of gliders in 2025

On the weekends of September 6/7, 2025, and September 13/14, 2025, 30 gliders were loaded into seven containers to begin the long journey to Bitterwasser, Namibia.

All gliders are very well booked. There are still a few slots available at the beginning of November. If you are interested, please contact  hog@bitterwasser.com.

Once again, it was “full house” during loading this year. Thanks to the excellent preparation by the Bitterwasser team, everything went smoothly. The loading site in Waghäusel near Bruchsal is ideal for this purpose.

Bitterwasser is more fully booked than ever before this season. The first bookings for 2026/2027 have already been made.

The brand-new Bitterwasser ARCUS with the competition registration RL was also loaded. The glider has not yet taken off, except for the acceptance flight. It is fully booked at Bitterwasser.

Everything is still empty.

It's filling up.

Four double-seaters per container.

One truck for each container. Off to Rotterdam.

All containers gone. Until February 2026. Then they'll all be back.

Good News

The SSN (Soaring Society of Namibia) website states that pilots holding a SPL license together with a valid LAPL medical may fly gliders with European registration in Namibia. Previously, the more complex Class 2 ICAO medical was required. The SSN point out that no definitive, valid statement can be made for neighbouring countries such as Botswana or South Africa.

For glider owners: Please check with your insurance company that this is in accordance with your insurance contract.
