Culinary masterpieces!

Art on a plate.

Fireworks for the taste buds are set off every day when Lize van der Merwe prepares the 3-course menu for dinner. She is head chef at Bitterwasser this season.

She has been passionate about cooking since she was 15 years old. The Namibian soon realized that she enjoys creative work.

After she met someone at school who wanted to open a cookery school, she started training in cooking. The training paid off. She became Young Junior Chef of the year 2018 in a competition.

After the competition, she studied food and beverage management at the Silver Spoon Academy in Windhoek. At the end of her studies, the "Purpile fig cooking school" also opened, where Lize completed her Culinary Arts Diploma.

Lize then went to Swakopmund to execute her business idea "Hello Harvest". There she presented her various products at markets. From home-made pasta in a wide range of varieties to home-baked bread, a variety of baklava and much more!
More and more people became aware of the chef and the number of inquiries grew steadily.

In 2022, Lize took part in the African Culinary Cup in Abu Dhabi and came fourth with her team. This success also led to an increasing number of inquiries. This was followed by many training courses in many different areas.

At the beginning of this year, Lize then went to India to take part in a competition organized by the Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel Management in India, which she won.

Now the master chef has been in Bitterwasser since the beginning of the season and amazes guests with the art of eating. The creation of art and the happy faces while eating are what Lize loves most about cooking.

And this love is reflected on every plate that is currently carried out of the kitchen in Bitterwasser.

We mourn the loss of Dieter Schwenk

As a member of the Bitterwasser Board of Directors and CFI of the Soaring Society of Namibia, Dieter has rendered outstanding services to gliding in Namibia.

Sitting at his favorite spot in Bitterwasser, he has left us forever.

We will not forget him.

Season final

The season in Bitterwasser is slowly drawing to a close.
One by one, the gliders are being loaded into the containers. And still some teams fly over 1000 kilometers every day.
