The record-breaking flight took off from Bitterwasser before 10 a.m. local time. The route initially led to the northwest, towards the Naukluft Mountains. From there, they headed south along a strong convergence until shortly after Helmeringhausen. After the first leg, the two returned to the north to fly a second lap along the convergence and then back to Bitterwasser in time for the Christmas dinner in the evening.
It began at 8 pm with a stylish champagne welcome. Chef Mario himself then presented an exquisite menu that left nothing to be desired. A starter was followed by several creative entrees. The main course offered a selection of springbok medallions, duck and fillet of beef, accompanied by vegetarian side dishes and fresh salads. Finally, various desserts rounded off the feast so that the pilots will not have to worry about not having enough weight in the plane in the next few days.

Early October is the ideal time to prepare the runways for flight operations. You can land at the Bitterwasser Flying Lodge in every which direction—depending on how you look at it, on 8 runways (plus one emergency runway), each in two directions. Jeremias carefully levels the landing area over the course of several weeks.
