A new face in Bitterwasser.

Florian Stoyke is this year's support in the flight office. Together with Dirk Skura and Michael Stoltze he forms the team for the flight season 2022/23.

"Hello everyone, I'm Florian, a flight student at my home club in Detmold. When I finished high school this summer, I wanted to explore Namibia and not leave gliding at home. Where, if not in Bitterwasser? In the meantime, I have been on site for four weeks. Well integrated in the flight office, I am mainly concerned with the pilot and aircraft documents, the writing of start lists and the setup of the GPS-SPOTS. I like to help with the take-offs in the morning and with putting the airplanes away in the evening. This together and the beautiful environment here, make life and flying special for me. Gliding in Namibia inspires me every day anew. It is nice that I can be part of it. Until the End of January I will be working in Bitterwasser. I am looking forward to meeting you all.
See you soon in Bitterwasser".

1250 km palm tree for Dmitry Borovyk and Anton Minskii

The last season 2023/24 ended with a spectacular highlight for Dmitry Borovyk and Anton Minskii: on the very last day, they managed to fly around three declared turning points that cover an impressive distance of 1250 kilometers. This extraordinary achievement earned them the privilege of planting a palm tree in Bitterwasser - an honor only bestowed on the best pilots. One year later, the two are now returning to Bitterwasser to plant their palm tree in a festive ceremony in keeping with the old Bitterwasser tradition.
